Big Springs natural area is located 4 miles southeast of Van Buren. It is the largest national freshwater spring in the United States with an average daily discharge of 276 million gallons. There is easy access via Highway 103. Big Springs is the largest of many springs that feed the Current River. Making the river one of the most pristine in the US.

Also located at the springs area is Big Springs Lodge. An excellent eating establishment featuring local delicacies in a rustic setting with patio dining that over looks the crystal clear Current River. Visitors on the patio can easily see the bottom of the deep blue water and any fish that are wandering by.
